Aryan's Story
In my infancy, my parents took me to hospitals across India as I struggled with feeding
issues. It wasn't until we reached Mumbai's renowned Bombay Hospital that my condition
was properly diagnosed: short gut syndrome. There, doctors inserted a Hickman line and
initiated parenteral nutrition (PN) to ensure I received essential fluids, given my
inability to consume food adequately.
During my childhood, I depended on nightly and daytime PN, carrying a backpack with
the essential equipment even during primary school. Overcoming my fears, I learned to be
cautious and protect my line. A video on my mother's phone showing someone else with
parenteral nutrition gave me a sense of solidarity, reassuring me that others faced
similar challenges.
